Komodo-IDE is an excellent debugger for TCL. The last time I reported on Komodo, see my previous post here, back in 2021, see I concluded that: 'So, Ive been looking through the new release of Windows and have found a new editor in Windows called Komodo Editor. Komodo IDE is now free as part of the ActiveState Platform. %b instead of %b.Komodo IDE ist one IDE for all your languages.Ĭode faster with the IDE for today’s web languages – Python, PHP, Perl, Golang, Ruby and more. On a Mac it works the same way, except that (1) you press Command-R instead of Ctrl-R (2) the compile command is /opt/local/bin/g -o %b -Wall -std=c 14 %fĪnd (3) the run command is. Komodo Edit remembers them, and you can select them from the drop-down list after you press Ctrl-R. Once you've entered these run commands once, you never have to retype them, even if you work on a different C program later. You'll see the output of the program in the Command Output tab. To run the program, press Ctrl-R and enter %b. If there are no errors, it will say that the g command returned 0. If there are any compilation errors, they will appear in the Command Output tab. The %f is replaced with the file name (like foo.cpp) and the %b is replaced by the basename of the file, without the extension (like foo). This is a template that will work for any C program. On Windows, press Ctrl-R, then enter g -o %b -Wall -std=c 14 %f Remember that you can use the up/down arrows to access previously-entered commands. If there are compiler errors or run-time errors, fix the program, save it, and repeat. If it compiles correctly, enter foo to run it (. After you save your file in Komodo Edit, switch to the command prompt, make sure you're in the same directory in which you saved the file, then enter g -o foo -Wall -std=c 14 foo.cpp One way to work is to have Komodo Edit and Command Prompt (Terminal on a Mac) running at the same time. There are two ways you can work: with or without a command prompt. Don't save files in the Komodo Edit directory. Komodo Edit will show the directory in parentheses after the file name in the title bar. Note that on a Mac or in Linux, ~ is an abbreviation for your home directory. You should normally save files in your home directory ( c:\Users\ username on Windows or /Users/ username on a Mac). Under Appearance, you may want to uncheck Show Komodo Start Page at startup if you find the start page distracting. Under Fonts and Colors there are several different Schemes available, including some with dark backgrounds instead of the default white background. (I've never seen a format that requires the last line to not end with a newline.) But in those cases where it does matter, 99% of the time the requirement is that all lines be the same: all lines, including the last line, must end with a newline. For some programming languages and data-file formats it doesn't matter whether the last line of a file ends with a newline. Under Editor→ Save Options, select Clean trailing whitespace and EOL markers, select Ensure file ends with EOL marker, then press OK. Go to Edit→ Preferences (on a Mac, it's Komodo→ Preferences). Note that Komodo Edit, which is free, is different from Komodo IDE, which is a commercial product. 1 Installing Komodo Editĭownload Komodo Edit and install it like any other app. But they have unusual keybindings that may not appeal to some users.
